Search for unprocessed receipts in Gmail

Problem

Subjective

When client

  1. Opens Gmail

What client expects

  • A link to show only emails with receipts that are unprocessed

What actually happens

  • Client goes to the tag tree
  • Clicks the Financial/Receipt tag
  • Ignores the receipts that are processed or old

Notes

  • (None)

Objective

  • Client has filters to locate receipts and tag them Financial/Receipt
  • Once the receipt is processed, client tags the respective email with Tags/Imported
  • Emails with receipts before Jan 1 of this year (2024) can be ignored

Assessment

Plan

  • Paste the following into Gmail search:
    label:financial-receipt AND NOT label:tags-imported AND after:2024/01/01

T-Square Rack

Problem

When client:

  1. Enters room

What client expects:

  • T-Squares to have designated spot

What actually happens:

  • T-Squares are balanced on floor against cabinet, in the way
  • T-Squares fall when cabinet is bumped

Note

  • (None)

Solution

Supplies Used:

  • 3M Hook
    Make : 3M
    Series : Command
    Model : Small Wire Hooks
    UPC : 0-51141-99314-0
  • Duck Tape
    Make : Duck Brand
    Color : Fluorescent Green Citrus
    Model : 285582
  • Long Nose Marker
    Make : FastCap
Series : Long Nose Pattern Marker\
    Color : Gold
    URL : fastcap.com
  • Round Heavy Duty Felt Furniture Pads (TODO: Make / Model / UPC)

Steps Taken:

  1. (Should have) Apply Duck Tape behind where the T-Squares are going. Tape does not need to be precise as long as it is larger then the shadow.
  2. (Should have) Use Long Nose Marker to outline T-Squares
  3. (Should have) Use knife to trim the Duck Tape along the trace. Remove excess Duck Tape so only the shadow remains.
  4. Adhere 3M Hook so it lines up with the inner corner of the T-Squares
  5. Apply Felt Furniture Pads at base (and center if needed) to keep T-Squares from banging
  6. Label T-Square shadow (Poka Yoke)

Note:

  • I did these in the wrong order, so had to cut the Duck Tape shadow around the existing 3M Hook and Felt Furniture Pads

First project submitted to Crates.io

Rust (the software development language I write in) projects are uploaded for general use to crates.io. Until now, none of my projects have been uploaded.

This "crate" contains code that makes it easier to pull the version of the software from the version tracking system (Git) when the program is compiled (converted from human-readable to machine code). This allows programmers to display what version their program is without manually updating it in the code.

Removed from Deployment Availability

Some of my co-workers are transferring / resigning, and multiple supervisors are self quarantining.  Ergo, I am not in a position to take time off to deploy.  I have removed myself from the Disaster Responder Availability list.

Deployment Process:
• ✔️ Standby Request (Deployment possible within 24-48 hours, deployment probably for 2 weeks) - Received
• ✔️ Preliminary Supervisor Approval - Received
• ✔️ Confirmation of Availability - Sent
• 🚫 Deployment Request (this is when all the details become available) - Canceled
• Final Supervisor Approval
• Final Confirmation
• Deployment

Current Outage

Software is still under development.  Until the system is tested and deployed my status will show "Signal Lost".

This is SUCH a tease!

Tornado warnings 25 miles away, but I am hanging with a friend.

Didn't miss anything

As of the time of this post, zero Tornado Reports were recorded by the National Weather Service.  So I didn't miss anything.

Lessons learned in my first chase

Always check for power lines

This was a stupid mistake and something I knew better than to do.  Lucked out that nothing bad happened.

Know the counties

Once I decide to chase, I need to pull out a map and become familiar with the counties in the affected area.  Watches / Warnings are verbally given on a county-by-county basis.  I wasted WAY too much time looking for which county I was in.

Pre-Program the repeaters

Another thing I need to do before leaving on a chase is to locate the Ham Radio repeaters in the area and program them into my mobile.  If I actually spotted a tornado, I could not report it as the repeaters are different in different locations.  I also need to research how to determine which repeaters are used for SkyWarn®

Put my tactical / reflective vests on before approaching the storm

Putting my vest on when the wind was already 60 mph was challenging.  Also, the PTT mic cord was frustrating to run after putting the vest on.  Finally, walking outside of my vehicle without the reflective vest on was risky.

If I was adequately prepared, I would have set up the vest before heading out, and would have put it on when the storm was in range.

Finish my real-time GPS tracker

While the Esri map was more than adequate in showing me where the hazards were, knowing where I was on the map was unnecessarily time consuming. It also required me to manually paint my location on the map I posted to the blog.

This project is nearly completed.  I should also add a feature that captures the current map as a PNG and adds it to the blog entry so I could post faster.

Make sure my weather instruments are working before departing

An anemometer is no good when the display is not hooked up to it!

I am missing several key components
  • Tablet - for displaying the map while driving
  • Camera - chase is not much good to others if I don't have any photographs
  • Weather Instruments - Wind speed is important, so is temperature, wind direction, barometric pressure, etc.

Still Safe

The Tornado Warning is several counties over and heading away from me.  Had to change the star color to white as the green was hard to see.

Safe for the time being

When the rain got intense enough that I was rain-wrapped, everywhere became equally dangerous, so I decided to drive along the highway to the next city, in-case I needed to get shelter.  Upon exiting at Barnesville, MN the Severe Thunderstorm Warning was cancelled for Clay county as the storm had moved on.

I think this will end my chase for tonight, once the rain stops I will head towards the Twin Cities.  No point chasing after sunset ... too risky.

That was INTENSE!

It took minutes for the sky to completely cover, then the wind started to pick up rapidly.  I got off I94 at the next exit.  By the time I parked the wind was 60+mph sustained.  I got out and had to take my glasses off for feer of loosing them.  I then watched a wall-cloud in the distance with some rotation, but nothing materialized, amd the wall cloud was eventually rain-wrapped.

When the wind died down I moved my van (was under a transmission line ... Oops 😳) and composed this.  It is now pouring, not much I can do until this passes.

Quick Stop

Quick stop in Alexandria MN.  Inside the target zone

SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCH 380 IS IN EFFECT UNTIL 100 AM CDT
Wind speed is picking up, getting gusty.  Still all "friendly" cumulus clouds.  Temperature is starting to drop.

Rest Stop

Quick stop at the Middle Spunk Rest Area in Avon, MN (about where the green star is).  Still headed toward Fargo but will be in the goal zone in about 15 minutes drive.

Skies are mostly clear, it is bright and HOT.
