Now that it is fairly certain that the people of Florida will not need as big of a response force as is currently deployed, the question now becomes what to do with the people here.
Some of us will need to stay, clean up, and help those affected in the northern part of Florida. Some of us are being re-deployed to the Carolinas. Some specialized volunteers are being deployed to the Bahamas. Some of us will be re-deployed here to help refugees from the Bahamas. The rest of us are being sent home.
I will not know what group I fall into until tonight at the earliest. Last I heard, all the flights to the Carolinas are booked, so it is unlikely I will be sent there. There is nearly zero chance for deployment to the Bahamas, this requires a minimum of a 3 week deployment and I have only been approved for 2.
During the daily stand-up, it was stated that HQ was likely to stay operational through the weekend. Probably the most likely scenario is that I will stay until HQ is shut-down, and the operation is re-merged into a chapter operation.
Most of today has been spent learning the procedure to clean the equipment (digitally and physically), re-inventory it and pack it.
I do hope I at-least stay through the weekend. My PTO was through Friday, and I am not due at work until the following Sunday evening.
