Day 2 was quite varied.
I spent most of the day inventorying kits, and moving kits between various different storage locations and vehicles. There are standard IT kits for different kinds of locations, including all the supplies that will be needed to set-up.
I also walked one of my associates through how to set-up the laptops. From acquisition form, to supervisor approval, to checking out of inventory, to OS setup, to configuring the internet connection and printer, to locking it down to the table, to getting the Red Cross volunteer signed in, to finalizing the paperwork. Was interesting teaching someone to do something that I had only done a couple times the day before.
At one point, I did get to use my IT skills, when I was assigned to set up a non-standard printer, fix a broken PA system, and deal with an internet connectivity issue. There was no work instruction on how to address the various obstacles I ran into, so I finally felt useful.
I also learned how to operate a lift-gate, and how to start the engine on a semi. The odd things one learns on a DRO.
